One thing I have noticed is that it helps to ignore the failings (if so) among those one is aligned with at a certain level however valid the reasons, as also attempt to function with them in spite of their being excruciatingly demanding and boorish: truly ways of manipulations, and not as we often perceive them to be -- mere harmless idiosyncrasies.
